The Wreath Leschenaultia Collection
One of my photographic ambitions was to photograph Western Australia's Wreath Leschenaultia, a rather rare wildflower that only grows in several spots north east of Perth. In 2006 I was unable to do so as they didn't flower and I was determined to do so in 2007 now that I was living in Perth.
These flowers are named for their growing habit ... the flowers ring the outside of the plant like a wreath, I was astonished by the delicacy and almost alien beauty of these flowers close up.
So Maranatha my trusty Pentax buddy and I headed north on another wildflower adventure. The flowers were hard to find and thin on the ground but we did manage to find a spot south of Perenjori. But disaster of disasters, I got back to the computer to find that I had lost two whole cards of photos when the card reader malfunctioned. I was devastated! So up we got the next morning and returned back up the highway to try again. The shots in the collection were taken on that second trip.
